Hello everyone,

Does anyone know of a tractor enthusiast who wants to sell/part-ex a small crawler tractor, like a Ransomes MG type?

Maybe part ex-my organ?

Cheers,
Rob.

Hi Rob,
I sold a Ransomes Crawler about 12 months ago. As afr as I know the buyer hasn't done anything with it yet. It was an MG6 with the Stihl diesel engine. It had a rotovator, grubber & 1 plough. If you are interested I will ask him if he is interested in selling it.

Hello Herbie,

Many thanks for your reply. That sounds like a great idea but 2 things bother me;

1. Transport costs from Dublin to Spalding would be prohibitive, assuming you sold it locally.

2. I would not want the accessories with it.

What do you think?
Rob.

Hi Rob,
Sorry for taking so long to reply, as I was in England to see Man Utd play & more importantly, to attend the Rally in Victoria Park, Widnes.
As regards the Ransomes, the buyer would not split the tractor from the accessories, so that rules that out, sorry. Keep an eye on the ads in Old Glory & Stationary Engine magazines to mention only 2. Hope your hunt is successful. There were different models available with different engines fitted over the years, all great fun if a trifle nose heavy.
While over there I went to collect a Jimmy Williams monkey & ended up buying a Pell organ from the same vendor. It is a 31 note, mounted on a cart. I was lucky to have my wife with me, as she fell in love with the organ & cart at first sight.
Does anyone know how to tell the age of a Jimmy Williams monkey, as it would be great to know his age?
All the best,
Herbie

Hello Herbie,

Oh well, never mind, I will keep looking.

Can you tell us more about this 31nt you have bought please? We can update our records at Alan Pell Music.

Sorry I can't help you with the age of your monkey. Is he going grey?

Thanks again for the offer.

Cheers,
Rob.

Hi Rob,
I bought the organ from Bernie Gough in Nelson nr Burnley. I was up there collecting the monkey I bought on ebay, & my wife & I liked the organ & decided to buy it. The cart was the deciding factor.
When I got it home, I ran the tuning roll thru it & discovered 2 notes not working at all & some notes out of tune. I think I have fixed most of the problems now.
There are 4 knobs on the side for reegisters but apart from the piccolo (rear knob) I don't know the names of the pipes or registers.
Bernie gave us a good selection of music with the organ but we will need some extra tunes suitable for weddings, funerals & Christmas.
I am currently making a clamping system to hold the organ firmly on the cart while moving & will try to incorporate some rubber feet.
Were your small organs ever given names, or is that a peculiarly Dutch trait?
The monkey is not going grey, but I am going both grey & bald, not like you young fellows boasting long hair. I saw you on the DVD.
If nobody else posts a review of Widnes, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I will try to upload a video if it comes out ok.
All the best,
Herbie
