Well done, Nick. Looks and sounds extremely pleasant. Will we get a chance to see and hear it at Twinwoods this year? best regards, Bob

Nick Williams- 07-11-2006

I've already answered your Twinwoods event question Bob earlier on in this thread; click the following link to be taken to the exact post in question: http://organ.10.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?p=2042&highlight=#2042 In short, I'd love to bring the Chiappa to your event, but October will be a hectic and expensive time for me with starting back at University, so I can't promise, especially with the travelling distances involved. I might be having to move into my accommodation that very weekend anyway, so can't commit to anything yet I'm afraid.

Hi Nick Thank you for your response to my questions about your Chiappa, very interesting and informative. I hope perhaps to hear it for real at some time. All the best, Jim

Just had my first chance to listen to the sound files. Well Nick, what can I say, only you know how many hours, sorry, years you have put into this organ before it has started to make some good noises. You haven’t been afraid of trying new things, or doing a good job. It’s a credit to you, and for a 48 key it certainly packs a punch! Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh sometime.

Well James, I've no idea exactly how many hours in total, but on and off I've been working on the organ for three and a half years to date. I do know it would have been quicker for me to have scratch built a new one rather than restore some of the unusual Chiappa constructions, but then it wouldn't be a Chiappa! Given the case and boxes of bits I had to start with, I do feel I've got the balance right between restoring the many original aspects that were there and producing the 'in keeping' new parts to complete the instrument. I've certainly learned a lot during the project, and once I've completed the smaller things on the outfit such as lighting and fitting out the display vehicle with living accommodation, I'm moving on to the next project (something quite exciting... watch this space!). All the best, Nick

Hi Nick I noticed that your Chiappa is fitted into the same type of box van that Leonard Brookes used for his Ceol. When can we expect to see this up in the North West.I know you won't be coming to Widnes which is a pity It would have ben a great showcase for the organ,I have heard of the problems you have encountered with a certain person who will remain nameless.Incidently your forum is still the best for all types of info and all others pale into comparison(credit where due m8) Nick.A.Marler
