Trevithick 200 celebration - 19/20 July 08
No not Camborne this time, but Bridgnorth is getting up steam to celebrate the bicentenery of the manufacture of the world's first fare paying passenger locomotive designed by the Cornish inventor Richard Trevithick. Built in Bridgenorth at the Hazeldine Foundry, the original "Catch me who can" engine was put to work in London on a circular track near the site of what is today Euston Station. A replica engine is being made for the event this year and will be joined by the other Trevithick replica engines. More info can be found at: http://www.trevithick200.co.uk/ I know a number of other engines are promised along with steam gallopers from the Iron Gorge Museum and several visiting fair organs. Sounds like it will be a very special one-off event indeed. Sorry if this is a tag off-topic.
