South West Organ Festival 3rd to 5th May 2008
South West Organ Festival 3rd to 5th May 2008 Following the successful inaugural year in 2007 the organ festival will now take place over the 1st bank holiday in May. This event is now attracting many organs from around the UK, and this year brings a different selection from last. Utilising the Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre the visiting organs will be located around the halls, providing music, while enjoying the displays and rides of the centre. The organs attending range from small 20 note hand turn organs to the larger concert organs. These include organs local to Devon & Cornwall, and from as far as field as Kent and Worcestershire. For those wanting to build their own organ, specialists will be attending the weekend to offer help and advice, as well as trade stands. The official launch will be given to Bob Wallington’s self build 52 Key replica Dutch street organ, which demonstrates the love of self build, and dedication to this small world. The Guest organ appearing this year is the World’s Largest travelling Concert Organ. The 118 Key “Victory” will be in attendance on Monday 5th May, together with the 73 Key “Locomotion”. This will provide a grand finally to the weekend.
