seek Gavioli catalog reprint (or original!)
I have seen a nice reprint of a Gavioli catalog, in French with a color cover that had good engravings of a wide variety of organ facades. I'd like to have a copy of this reprint (or, in the unlikely event that it is available the original) I've found an American version (in English, using the 31 Bond St, New York address) at libraries here, but it was done at a smaller format and the pictures are another generation or two down the line of reproduction and most of the detail has been lost. Hi Roger! Not sure if it is the one you've seen, but I have a copy of the c.1900 Gavioli catalogue on my website www.fairgroundorgan.com under the photos section, then at the bottom of the page there is a link to navigate the catalogue pages. The title page is in colour, but the rest are in black and white I'm afraid. The images are slightly reduced in size on the website, but overall the quality still isn't as good as the real thing would have been. I'm more than happy to print you a copy though if you'll cover the international postage a perhaps a donation towards my 89-key Gavioli preservation fund! Original Gavioli catalogues really are like gold dust unfortunately! The original one that this was copied from was apparently mostly reproduced in colour (must have cost a fortune!), and I believe was in the possession of Carl Frei before being acquired by the safe hands of Tim Trager. Hope this helps, Nick

That's the one! I guess Google hasn't fully captured your site yet, as I've searched with every possible set of keywords that I could come up and didn't find your site. I'll include you on my links page to help that process along. Anyway, what I could really use is a high resolution (300dpi or more) scan of a couple of the art nouveau style facades-- #632/674 (both on one page) 640, and 685. I'm designing a new facade and would like to use elements from old organs in making something new that retains the flavor of the old, so I need fodder for my Photoshop efforts. I've got a Xerox, but again it has lost a lot of the detail. I'd be happy to help out your preservation fund in exchange for a couple good scans. Did you know that when you try to bookmark your site you get a warning that the site is copyrighted? I wouldn't have thought setting a bookmark would be a violation.
