Penny Rigden Penny Rigden lost her fight against cancer this morning, Tuesday 12th August. Penny was well known for her Can-Can routines on the stage in front of the Saunders Gavioli with her girls. She had spent her life as a dancer in show biz and even in the last few months had started dancing classes for the children of her village in the church hall which were proving to be increasingly popular.

How very sad.
I saw her & her dancers many times on the rally scene.
Her dancers did really good authentic routines that are still copied, but never bettered.
I think she used to have do television work on 'The Good Old Days' (Music hall/Vaudville) in the 70's. Anyone remember this?
Rest in Peace Penny

Very sad news indeed. Penny has gone long before her time. I've fond memories of time spent in the fun company of Penny and Chris Rigden, her wonderful character of a dad, at rallies in the 1970s.
Enjoying a meal with them during a terrible Friday evening thunderstorm at the 1976 Great Working of Steam Engines at Stourpaine, Dorset we were laughing so much at Chris' jokes that the noise of the rain hammering on their living van roof was frequently drowned out!
It is said that we should never fear the shadows as it means, somewhere, a light is shining. That light tonight is from Penny's star in the heavens.

That is very sad news indeed. I have very fond memories of her dancing with her troupe in front of my uncle's organ.
May she rest in peace

Penny Rigdendid indeed appear in "The Good Old Days" Music Hall series. She was one of the four ladies who, with their partners , danced on every show. She had been a high kicker in one of the troupes of dancers either Television Toppers or The Tiller Girls. She had also appeared in various TV shows such as The Bill. Her funeral took place today, Friday, at Elstow Abbey

I've been looking up Penny on the web.
She seemed to have done everything from appearing on the 'Benny Hill Show' in the 70's, to more recently choreographing a dance routine for an AOL advertisement!
Glad I was right remembering about 'The Good Old Days' Bob, Not bad considering I was about 10 then!
