Hi David, This organ is a 52 key Bursens and is owned by John Wootton who also owns a Garrett 4CD showmans tractor. A few cassettes have been released of the organ and the sleeve notes read: 'BURSENS 52 KEY ORGAN The organ was built by Arthur Bursens (1890-1982) of Hoboken, Antwerp, Belgium as one of a batch of only four 52 key organs made. It came into the ownership of Lord O' Neill of Shanes Castle, Co. Antrim, Ireland, where it was an attraction on a vintage Leyland truck. The front was extended some time after 1982 when it was owned by John & Sheila Harrison who also increased its reportoire. It was fitted into its present transport in 1986. John Wooton, the present owner, has also added to the reportoire. It is the only 52 key Busens organ with a metal Trumpet register. ORGAN SPECIFICATION Melody: 22 notes G-E 2 x Violin, 2 x Bourdon Celeste, 1 x Trumpet, Accompaniment: 12 notes G-F# 1 x String, 1 x Stopped Flute, Bass: 8 notes C-B 1 x String, 1 x Stopped Flute, 1 x Trombone, Bass Drum & Cymbal, Snare Drum x 2 TOTAL PIPES 148' I hope this is of interest to you. Best wishes, Trevor.

Hi Trevor Thanks very much for the information you have posted, sounds like a very nice organ indeed. Regarding Bursens organs, they aren't the most common of organs to be seen around the rally circuit so when you do get a chance to hear one, it's a real treat. Arthur Bursens was an exceptional organ builder and judging by the date that this organ was built, this would have made it one of the last organs he ever built, around the age of ninety! Regards David :org:

David, The four 52 key Bursens organs were built in the late sixties, early seventies. After that Arthur Bursens built several 68 key streetorgans. (+- 17) Arthur Bursens had to stop because of health problems when he reached the age of almost 90. You will find more about the history of Bursens at: http://users.skynet.be/draaiorgel/English/index.htm Johnny Claes

This organ was thoroughly restored by myself (assisted by Anna) in 1995. The melody trumpets are made from English church organ oboe pipes with their half-caps removed. They don't travel too well, as they are made from organ metal (pewter) and are have very narrow necks just above the blocks. As far as I know this is the only Bursens so equipped. Regards, John

Monty
I have today placed a video on YouTube of the 121 key Decap Antwerpen "Monty" at the fair in Tilburg. The video was recorded on the 24th of July, 2007, which was the Monty's 60th anniversary. http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=fxRVyox2TBs Robin has also uploaded two shorter videos of the Monty: http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=qOPGK6G4slM http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=q7IttO00DVs

Aubrey Froment- 07-25-2007

Sounds great. Is this the same "Monty" that used to be in a cafe in Made? I have happy memories of listening to Monty on the way back from a trip to the Hinzen collection and a visit to the museum at Helmond many years ago. Aubrey

Thijs Haenen- 07-25-2007

It travels around a lot. At the moment it is still at the fairground, and it will soon visit the fairground in Oosterhout, and also be in Made again for a while after that.

The Indianapolis Childrens Museum machine used to have a Wurlitzer 146. The organ in the vid is one of Stinson's Style 29M's . The 153 (I think) is actually an Artizan with a Style 153 facade that Don Stinson built years ago. The machine is the Herschell- Spillman at Greenfield Village, Dearborn, MI. As far as the Kennywood 153, the only way you are going to hear it in good tune is early in the season. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and that's the way it's always been. It's one of the first ones built, and may be the oldest surviving example. With the wild swings in humidity we always got there, it doesn't stay in tune for very long.
