Waldkirch/D. - vrijdag 17 t/m zondag 19 juni
(Friday 17th to Sunday 19th June) From Jan L.M. van Dinteren, Holland, he fills me in on a few of the organs to be at the Waldkirch Festival this year (June). For those who don’t know, the Waldkirch Organ Festival host this event every three years and it is the venue for some 100 instruments – all of excellent quality ranging from the smallest right up to the largest. It is almost being updated as every day goes by, so maybe a more accurate one nearer the time.

Many thanks to Jan L.M. van Dinteren for the information update. Note that instruments from the UK, Holland, Switzerland and Germany are listed – a truly international selection of music. We look forward to a greater update nearer the time.

Hi Boz,
Many thanks for update 10. Loved the item on painting but how would you cope with hundreds of pop rivet heads on a truck body? It's not possible to get around them with conventional methods. Our trailer needs repainting and it has always dawned on me what a problem it would be to get around those heads. Please don't suggest grinding them off.
Has anyone got any better ideas about those pop rivets? Certainly when I have done similar, I have used a paint pad with a bit less paint and the result was fine, but your comments are very welcome.
Also from Derek
According to the local TV, the Gray Gavioli survived intact in Wells next the Sea in Norfolk from the fire that took place.

Boz,
Just a note to let you know how much I enjoy your Updates. Please keep them coming!
Last September I was pleased to be able to attend the Great Dorset Steam Fair with my family. It was our first visit and it was simply wonderful! Hats off to the organizers and all who brought organs to share. What a thrill it was! In Update #10 you mentioned trains. Well, our business is all about trains. Feel free to take a look at our web sites below. I also wanted to let your readers know that we have a free brochure available titled: Want To Learn More about Riding Railways? We will send it free to anyone, in any country. All you have to do is ask. Others can find answers to their live steam and diesels questions by visiting our web sites.
Again, thanks for the updates. We're looking forward to the next one.(*)
Warm Regards,
Susan Robinson

Just as another update goes out, I am receiving questions from different people who ask where a particular museum, venue or maybe something like a steamship is located. Well I have to admit, I just don’t know the answer and there doesn’t seem to be a central directory either. I would like to be the Old Sage but until someone points me in the right direction, I am at a loss. Yes plenty of different websites, but I’m not on Broadband and I can’t afford the time to go through everything - your ideas on what to do and where to go please. (Nice answers please!)

From David Toyne in Australia
Something that you might be able to help me with. I have a friend out here looking for a carousel horse, wooden original type pattern, but not necessarily an “original” if you take my meaning. She is looking to make a very sexy (and very large) rocking horse. Any ideas on where I might find one or someone who has one they want to dispose of?
Thanks, David
I’ve suggested that David uses a fibreglass horse and fills it with expanding foam to give it the feel of being solid, but without the weight of a wooden horse. One thought though is that most Carousel (Merry-go –Round) horses are normally with their heads facing towards the outside of the intended machine and therefore the head will not be in line with the rest of the body.

Dates can be liable to be changed at the last moment so please check before venturing out into the big wide world of these festivals and meetings! That’s it so far – anyone got any further information, then please pass it on. Many thanks to all who helped in putting this event list together including KDV NL, AAIMM F Stoomwalsenclub NL FOPS UK MOOS UK. Many UK magazines have a regular listing of shows in the UK with three that come to mind being Old Glory, Vintage Spirit and the World’s Fair cover the UK. All you need to do is go onto their websites and they’ll do the rest www.worldsfair.co.uk or www.oldglory.co.uk or www.vintagespirit.co.uk as they’ll be far more accurate than I’ll ever be!
Any further dates, then please let me know. I have nothing for the US or Canada yet so those of us who wish to spend out holiday don’t know where to go!

Any websites, email addresses, that help in any way for contacting other likeminded groups. For some reason, there is not a central library that gives this information so it is with a bit of trepidation that I start with this particular group of websites. They cover much of the world, however maybe you can help me here and send me other places. As you know, when using a website, there is normally an email and postal address within the site. If you come across, or have any special favourites, then pass them on to me and I'll do the rest. As a point of interest, some websites are out of date and many don't work.
