Organ for auction - Sat 6 October - Devon
In the forthcoming Collective Vintage Auction to be held at Dingles, Lifton, Devon, PL16 0AT on Saturday 7 October: Lot no. 855 Fairground Organ 'The Dark Peak Piper' is a much traveled Fairground Organ. Claimed to be a 48 key Limonaire from the 1890’s it is undoubtedly of mixed origins but is reputed to have sounded good. The key-frame needs overhauling. The figures are nice and there are about 100 books of music. Requires extensive renovation. The van could easily be converted into a double axle trailer. Has been kept dry with a de-humidifier. I believe this is the instrument made up by Bill Minshull (Glossop) from scrap parts in the 1970s.
