Susan Sheppard- 07-12-2007
Hi I just found this forum yesterday and I found it very informative and fun.
My name is Susan Sheppard
I live in Eastbourne, East Sussex,UK
I have a 1985 McCarthy 20 keyless Street Organ which I obtained in 1992
I have always loved listening to organs at steam rallies etc. and I never learned to play an instrument despite loving all kinds of music but I can grind an organ!!
I haven't been out with my organ for a few years but I'm hoping to get back into the 'grind' soon.

What’s Your Name?
Lloyd Osmundson
Where do you come From?
Southern California USA, 5 miles from Disneyland
Do you Own an Organ? What do you own?
I own a fully restored 45 keyless (called 46 in Europe) Alfred Bruder organ. Book operated, trailer mounted, and plays at all the local organ rallys. I also own a Hofbauer 37er hand cranked
monkey organ.
Why do you like mechanical music?
Well, is there any other type of music?
Musically
Lloyd

Do you Own an Organ? What do you own?
Erm no. But I do own four synths (digital I'm afraid) Looking at an organ (size tbc!) as a possible build project - great to see a bit of information available on the web now. Got a few ideas about building some hybrid retro organ with some new electronics in it, will post these elsewhere.
Why do you like mechanical music?
Fascinated by these as a child - first thing I ever built out of lego I think, but it didn't really do anything! I am a Mech Engineer by degree (though not really employed as one) so love tinkering with stuff in the limited spare time I get :D
Cilla didn't ask me my age, but I'm 32

Steve Nutter- 09-22-2007
Hi everyone,
My name is Steve Nutter
I live in Eastbourne East Sussex
I do not own any organs at the moment, but I am a showman, among other things, and have nearly finished restoring a childrens dobby ride which as far as we can tell was built circa 1895. Will soon be looking for a small organ to fit in the centre.
What got me interested in organs? Been on fairgrounds since the age of 14 always loved the gallopers and of course the organs that go with them.
I am a member of the Society of Independant Roundabout Proprietors and look forward to chatting to some of you in the near future, especially if it involves ideas for the centre of my ride!!
cheers
STEVE

Hi Susan,
We had the dobbies out a couple of times just recently at small events in the area and the local paper took some pictures, apparently they are going to do a small piece about them sometime soon.
The "finished" thing should be out and about by next Easter, although I think they will never be really finished. They will need to take a bit of a back seat soon as all my other equipment will need the usual maintenance.
Good to see another local on here, I am from the Langney area.
cheers

Carl Plastow- 09-27-2007
Hello everybody,I'm Carl Plastow,I am from Cleethorpes,Lincolnshire.
I have been around on the rally scene for about 25 years, albeit with a fairly low profile.
I own a 25 note Alan Pell hand turned which is at Alans for a major overhaul as it has played since 1992 with little attention, It will only be making a couple of appearances a year as I also have a regular keyframe duty with Stewart Graves 84 key Mortier at rallies.
Luckily my other half Joanne likes these things too !
I have built up a massive collection of recordings, some dating from the late 1950s,having been left two major collections in addition to my own,if I can be of any assistance I will see what I can do.
I will be taking a week off work to be at Hull fair looking after the key frame on the Ayers 89 key Gavioli, not an easy task considering the state of some of the music books,I have tried to repair as many as possible and there are some more in their yard still to go at.
If any members of this forum are going please come and say hello, look for the old trilby hat !
best wishes Carl.

Where do you come From?
A small village near Filey on the Yorkshire Coast.
Do you Own an Organ? What do you own?
No but I intend to build a small one in the not too distant future.
Why do you like mechanical music?
I've been interested in fair organs since I was shown the workings of one as a boy, then found a copy of Eric Cockayne's book in the local library.
