Welcome to iMOD Robert!
Great to have another youngster on board, showing that the mechanical organ hobby really is enjoyed by all ages.
Keep up the posts, and hope to see you around at a rally again soon.
All the best,
Nick

Do you Own an Organ and what?
Not personally, but as Secretary of the Fairground Heritage Trust, I do have contact with several in our collection.
Why do you like mechanical music?
It's something I've grown up with. First contact would have been at Hull Fair in the late 1950s (Harry Lee's Yachts, etc), then a regular rallygoer since the late 60s. I acquired and restored my first player piano around 1970 - which can still be seen at Dingles Steam Village, albeit in need of re-restoration 35 years on!

Do you Own an Organ? What do you own?
Nope, but would love to have a good old Wurlitzer some day. Might possibly build a W105 if I can't get a real Wurly, but that's a long way off.
Why do you like mechanical music?
Many years ago, Richard Carns regularly took his W146 to several steam shows here in Ohio. That was my first experience with mechanical music. When Mr. Carns died, the organ was sold to Leroy Schumacher, who restored it and added bells. It is now a regular at rallys throughout the midwest.
Here is that organ as it is today:

Do you Own an Organ? What do you own?
John Smith 20 and 26 note.
Also have a Steinway Duo-Art reproducing piano, and am currently rebuilding a Nelson-Wiggen 5X nickelodeon.
Why do you like mechanical music?
I first saw/heard a player piano with my parents when I was maybe 10 years old. Been hooked ever since. I've always been fascinated by mechanical things. When you add music, it's the perfect hobby for me.

Where do you come From?
Pittsburgh, but I have been living near Morgantown, WEST Virginia since 1964. We used to have a canal boat based in Cheshire, so I'm sort of from the Midlands, too.
Do you Own an Organ and what?
I built a John Smith Senior 20 last year. My current organ projests include a MIDster Punch (about 95% done) and a bigger organ which will first play JS 20 rolls, then evolve to MIDI if I live long enough.
After attending several COAA (Carousel Organ Association of America) rallies this year my wife decided she wanted her own organ and bought an OSI Stresse Orgel. That is a 20er with electronic keying and hand crank made by Organ Supply Industries, Erie, PA.
Why do you like mechanical music?
I like to make music, but I don't get around to practicing on manual instruments.

Why do you like mechanical music?
Just like the sound of the pipe organ and getting music to play on a organ built mostly from re-cycled wood. :D

How could you not?
Nick Williams- 11-30-2006
Hi Steve,
Welcome to iMOD!
I’ve just been looking at your great website – it’s wonderful that you’re saving a unique piece of Victorian history there, and what a fabulous thing to actually own! As you say, now you just need the organ to go on it!
All the very best with your restoration project,
Nick

Hi Nick
Thanks! - I've been messing around with old fairground rides and slot machines since I was at school - started young like yourself! (your website great too btw)
I'm now the ripe old age of nearly mid-thirties! and think it about time I had an organ to go with all my other stuff. Hopefully I'll find something by Easter 2007 - that's the plan!
Steve

Hello Steve,
Welcome to iMOD. What a fantastic project. Have you got any photos of the pier in it's current state?
