Interesting! No pipes in top case ( baxophones ), no wheel on crank and no pulley on key frame spindle. Pipes outside side cases, lots of new wood everywhere.

How do you get to more pictures of this Mortier? I could find no active links to additional detail.

Adam Ramet- 10-08-2008

underneath the main picture are smaller pictures which, if you click on them, will show in the main window. For more details - simply contact the seller. In looking at the photos I'd say that they were taken during rebuild and during re-assembly : a part of the facade can be seen against a wall whereas in a later shot it's shown all assembled there so likely everything is there. It looks extremely similar to the Four Columns 97-key Mortier in the St Albans Musum (which clearly lacks several panels of facade. I don't know how many keys this one is or what it comes with or how much it is. The extra rank outside the case looks like a set of additional bass helpers, a nice touch if this is indeed what they are as these Mortiers are a little thin on the old bass depth usually. I guess they weighed a lot to travel about and, over the sound of dancers, a deep 16ft pitch was not clearly audiable. It looks like a job well done! My advice generally then : contact the seller!

Adam.....I only get the picture of the belly of the Mortier. I guess trip across Big Drink is too much for the smaller pics. Thanks anyway.

This looks to me the ex Roger Duerinck 97key Mortier, serial number 962! It has received a new front(made by Johnny Verbeeck) Rudy

Stephen Simpson- 10-12-2008

That was my first thought, although I was under the impression that Roger's organ went to the USA.

Re:
Hello, I'm the grandson of Roger Duerinck (passed away in 1998 unfortunately). When he died my father Gilbert wanted to buy it but couldn't afford it. Then it was sold to an American but first it would be restored by Johnny Verbeeck (http://www.j-verbeeck.com/). The organ of my grandfather is still in Belgium as the American buyer has recently died. Regards, Wouter Duerinck

What is the name of this American buyer you speack of? The mortier looks beautiful already, just gorgeous.

Hello Woulter Nice to hear from you over the iMOD forum. I was wondering what has happened to the original facade if the organ now has a new one? The CD made of the organ a few years ago was absolutely fantastic, the repertoire of the organ was breathtaking with arrangements from the best arrangers of dance organ music such as Urbain van Wichelen, Eugene Peersman, Marcel Bartier, Albert Decap, August Scholleart and the not so common Alphonse Dufey and Abel Frans. It's a shame that there aren't many of these types of recordings around as they really do present the dance organs at their best. Thanks very much! David :D

Adam Ramet- 11-11-2008

no, you've got it all wrong! There is a picture of the original (pre-restoration original anyhow!) front here : The current front is not new - it is the same one but restored. The canopies have been reinstated and, as such, it's closer to the 4 Columns Mortier #943 (http://www.stalbansorgantheatre.org.uk/site/collection.html)at St Albans. In fact, you can see which panels the St Albans organ is missing if you compare the two and what it would have been like originally! To hear the instrument : http://users.telenet.be/gilbert.duerinck/orgelmuz.htm ...as David says, it is indeed very fine!

Justin Senneff- 11-11-2008

Wow, that would be just a jem at a rally. This style facade reminds me just a bit of an Eastern Orthodox chirstian, Iconostasis wall(the wall that seperates the Altar from the people).

Adam Ramet- 11-11-2008

no, it'd be a disaster at a rally! It's an indoor instrument designed for indoor use, indoor acoustics and voiced accordingly. Curses on anyone who'd rally such an instrument in the open air! The facade is not modelled on religious architecture - such things don't go down well in dancehalls which is why there are no gothic Gaviolis as a rule. The style is however unequivocally Louis XV http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_XV_style

What about that one really huge organ they use at G.D.S.F each year(not "Victory")?
