MIDster Punch Question For those of you that are punching rolls. What kind of paper do you use?
I found Vellum Drafting Paper on 36 inch wide, 20 yard long rolls at an Office supply company.
Would brown wrapping paper work? What holds up the best?
I am planning to build a slitter setup to convert the wide rolls to useable widths.

Hi Jim, and MIDster "punchies" everywhere.
The wide drafting paper seems a good idea. Several people have used wallpaper lining-paper, which also comes in wide rolls.
It seems that one method is to cut the roll to width with a bandsaw whilst it is still tightly rolled, then to sand the cut edge with a sanding wheel. I am told that this produces an acceptable clean-cut edge to the paper.
Another method I have seen is a razor blade mounted on the punch bed, just before the punch head, which cut the paper roll whilst the roll was being punched. I am not sure how effective this turned out to be.
I know that a number of people have built themselves paper trimming machines using the razor blade principle and hand-cranked winding rollers.
Happy punching!
