Hollycombe Mechanical Organ Gathering - Sunday 29th July
The first ever gathering of mechanical organs will take place at Hollycombe Steam in the Country Liphook Hants on Sunday 29th July. The unique working steam collection with its railways, ever popular steam driven Edwardian fairground, with many of the rides the only ones left in existence, and other steam attractions will play host to a gathering of a wide selection of makes and sizes of organs. To date a total of twenty six visiting are booked to attend (all subject to availability) and will join the resident four Hollycombe organs on the rides and attractions in the steam fairground. Organs at the event will include: Hollycombe organs 98 key Peacock Pot Pourri Marenghi located in the Dawn of the Century Grand Electric Bioscope Show. 89 key Gavioli located in the Tidman Gallopers 1880s 62 key Gavioli trumpet barrel organ installed in “Mr Field’s Steam Circus” Savage Dobby set dated from the late 1870s and believed to be the worlds oldest surviving mechanical steam driven fairground ride. 45 Key Limonaire playing on the Steam Chairoplanes Other attending organs: Mike Mitchell - 89 Key Van De Broek - which has just started making appearances at events since moving down South after being purchased from the late Roger Austins family of Northampton at the end of January. Anthony Hooker – 30 note Pell & 22 note hand turned Trueman Peter Davey – 31 keyless McCarthy which will be installed and playing in the Hollycombe single Steam Yacht. Dave & Joan Wright – 27 keyless hand turned Robert Hope Cliff & Eileen Seamark – 42 keyless McCarthy Bobby Rawlins – 48 Key Kevin Meayers’ Dave Deakin – 25 note hand turned Alan Pell Andy Hind – 31 note hand turned Alan Pell Glyn Tisdall – 52 Verbeck Brian Rapley – 25 note Alan Pell paper roll organ Terry Pankhurst – John Smith Senior 20 & Universal 70 pipe Ian & Thomas Macey – 20 note Castlewood & 14 note keyless McCarthy Babe Mike Harris – 52 keyless McCarthy “Broadtown Belle” Norman Dicker – Will be displaying and playing a selection of four organettes from his collection: 23 key Molinari pipe barrel organ, 39 key Manopan twin reed book playing organette, 16 key La Coquette reed organette, 18 key Ariosa twin reed disc playing organette Brian Chapman – will be displaying with Norman a selection of four various organettes dating from 1890-1910 Paul & Dot McCarthy – 22 keyless McCarthy Brian Taylor – John Smith 20 note. The Iron Hill estate will come alive with the sound of music on this day!! :org: The collection will be open its normal hours 12pm -5pm with the collections rides operating from 1pm.
