Great Dorset 2008
Well a week has passed from the end of this years show what did you all think of it ? For me it was great to hear the wide range of instruments displayed which included all of the usuals Whites, Saunders,Atkinsons etc but Mr Newtons Marenghi replica made a fine Dorset debut, this is a superb instrument and well worth listening to. It was also nice to see Mr Prestons Ruth once again, always sounding in tip top condition. And Bobs bagpipes - wonderful. The highlight for me though had to be the Anderton and Rowland Marenghi Saturday night concert, From the opening bars of Zampa until shutdown this instrument sounded absolutely fantastic and all credit and thanks go to Mr Phillips, Mr Bennett, Mr Meayers, Mr C Marenghi (of course) and all others who helped with this wonderful show which to me was the perfect celebration of the fairs 40th anniversary. Looking forward to the 50th already. Andy Haskins

the GDSF is truly one of the worlds biggest mechanical music events. This started another mechanical music event the Band Organ rally. We owe a good portion of the growth of our hobby in America to the GDSF and all of the organ/mechanical music instrument involed. -Justin Senneff

oh, thats a great tune, wouldnt think it would suit A&R, but im sure it sounded great. Unfortunatly, i could make dorset this year, I heard some iMODers had a go organ cranking our Ruth. Im sure it had a break from 'The Bridie Song' The only book played by grandad as he hate the repertoir on the orga. I like it though, has some nice marches, and selections
