Grand Organ Recital at Great Dorset Steam Fair 2007
I can also confirm that there will be a 6th Grand Organ recital on the Anderton & Rowland Marenghi Organ on the Saturday evening of the Great Dorset Steam Fair this year. As in previous years, the concert will feature a selection of the more unusual items that lurk in the organ's library of old books. A souvenir programme will be on sale on the night. The concert starts at 8 o'clock.

That really is great news Jory a summer saturday evening listening to this superb instrument - bliss, something to look forward to. Would be nice if a 2nd volume of the cd were available.

What a decision to make! Grand Marenghi without video or fireworks otherwise over to the Victory playing Andrew Lloyd Webber and Harry Potter with video and fireworks! Gee, can I have a few minutes to think this over.....

Willem Kelders- 08-14-2007

To make the decision perhaps easier, I just want to say that the fireworks on the photographs were the fireworks on the Pickering Steam Fair. We don't have the permision (and the space) to use fireworks on the GDSF. Further, we are going on for four of five nights and the A&R only for one, so I would know where to go. kind regards Willem Kelders

well, that's made my mind up! See you there!

A letter of appreciation received by the organisers of this year's concert: GRAND ORGAN CONCERT 2007 Many, many thanks to you all for yet another memorable concert, every year seems even better than the last. The programme is a masterpiece of information which will be treasured. There is no doubt that these concerts are popular, there was quite as many in the audience as previous years, and most stayed the course despite it getting chilly towards the end. I am well aware of the effort that goes in to just getting the Grand Organ to the event and presenting it in such fine order with the top proscenium in position. let alone the extra time consuming work in producing the programme. To me, the Grand Organ Concert is the epitome of true fair organ preservation, and one can but hope that others in the movement will take note and follow your example, particularly in the 50th anniversary year of the FOPS in 2008. Best wishes to you all, Yours sincerely, Raymond A Elliott FOPS Vice-President
