GDSF 2007: Special Victory and Locomotion Evening Concerts Special Victory and Locomotion Evening Concerts at GDSF 2007Willem Kelders has asked me to release information about the special double organ and video concert planned for the Great Dorset Steam Fair 2007.
The main concert with video imagery was to be on the Saturday night of the show (1st September), with double playing during the preceding evenings. The shows have gone down so well with the public at other UK events that there will be more. Weather permitting, there will thus be a video and double playing performance starting with a short performance on the Tuesday night (28th August, the day before the public are in of course!), and getting longer each night until the Saturday night spectacular. The Willem and his team are presently busy making more movies to extend the repertoire.
Additional synchronised double-playing sessions without the video are hoped to be in performance on some afternoons. Stay tuned to my live Mechanical Organ reports via on-site radio station Steam Fair FM during the rally for the exact day-to-day timings of all the special organ events!
Anyway, on with the official announcement…The Kelders family celebrates its 30th year of coming over to the UK steam rallies. The Victory concert organ is coming over for the fifth time. Because of these anniversaries we have arranged a special evening concert & show.
First, the Victory and Locomotion will play synchronised. This has been made possible because we make a combination of modern and old technologies. Both organs are tuned in the same key. The two organs performing synchronised together has never been done before in this scale. It makes the largest concert on mechanical music instruments ever given worldwide.
Second we have made matching video-clips also synchronised to the organ music, which will be performed on a screen of 14x8ft. Around the seating area for the visitors we will erect poles connected with special LED lighting, which has a special effect. The whole outfit will give the atmosphere of an open-air theatre.
We hope to entertain lots of people, also those whom are normally not directly interested in fairground organs or mechanical music. Also we would like to show the endless possibilities of modern techniques combined with existing organ technologies. This show will present the la-*test*-('") entertainment of fairground organs, combined with all different kinds of music.
Some technical details of the Victory and Locomotion playing together:
36 changeable registers
11 fixed registers
1532 organ pipes
Air consumption: 1573 cubic feet/min of compressed air (13000 ltr)

The profits out of these concerts will be donated to Warchild
