Eye, Suffolk Country Show
The annual Eye Country Show takes place on August 26th - 27th, Bank Holiday Sunday & Monday, at Goodrich Park on the A143 near Diss. Steam and organs will be present; the latter being Jonny Ling's 72-key Dutch street organ and the well-voiced 65-midi instrument he built a couple of years ago for the Suffolk-based showman John Loades. Alan Smith, from nearby Hoxne, will be presenting his tuneful (ex-Leonard Brooks) 48-keyless Chiappa 'Ceol'. This show is a real treat with lots to see and do and well worth the effort to go if you live in the region. Also, a reminder that the Cotton Mechanical Musical Museum, near Stowmarket in Suffolk will be holding its 21st Annual Mechanical Organ Day on Sunday, October 7th from 10am - 5pm. Some 20 guest organs will be present and it is hoped that the event will see the debut performance of Alan Smith's newly-restored 60-key Gasparini street organ 'de Vondeling'.
