Charles Marenghi was born 150 years ago.
I wonder that there is still no activity around the 150th birthday of Charles Marenghi, who was born in 1858, and died in 1919. It would be a good thing for the Saturday Concert on the A&R in Dorset. We shall mention it on a special concert on Sunday 27 july on the Kunkels Marenghi/ Frei organ in Haarlem for the Haarlem International Organ Festival. Jan Kees de Ruijter

We think alike Jan-Kees! The idea you mention for Dorset is already in the planning stage with the Friends of the Anderton & Rowand Grand Organ. If anyone has any information about the life of Charles Marenghi they are willing to share I should be glad if they contacted me. His organs are well known to British enthusiasts but the man himself remains obscure. Back in June 2003 I spent a long, hot weekend searching the Paris cemeteries for his gravestone but without any luck. Most Parisian graves are not perpetual burials like in England, and I fear his grave is no longer in existence, unless of course someone can tell me different...
