A bit of a cheat.
A bit of a cheat. This is the last photos of old olive I will probably take. I have now sadly parted with it. I know I said in my earlier postings I was not going to finish the trailer, but I’ve had such a great response and a bit of a following not to mention not having any difficulty in getting entrance to any of the rallies I have wanted to go to. I decided not to dismantle it with the big hammer and finish it off instead. And have a real go at selling it. Yes it went for the full asking price, with about 400 rolls. In fact the whole outfit went. Hence the finishing of the project. Some photos of Old Olive in its new livery. Now for that bit of a cheat. Have you ever wanted to have a go at sign writing? Well I did and this was my first attempt in over 20 odd years. Now all I did was use my computer to print out what I wanted to put on the side of my trailer. After all printing was done and all excess paper was removed I just turned over the printed paper and on the back used masking tape to fix carbon copy paper on it. Then taped it on to the trailer with low tack masking tape and went over the letters with a pencil. Removed the paper and then painted within the lines. I know this might be like teaching some of you to suck eggs, but some of you maybe able to use the same principle on your organ decoration. After the paint is all dry just use bleach water to remove any lines. Many thanks to all of you that showed an interest in old olive. This will be my last article on old olive the rolling Pianola.

I have used computer printed outlines to produce vinyl lettering for boats. I fastened the printout to adhesive backed "shelf paper" with a "glue stick" then cut the letters with a model makers knife. After cutting I moistened the paper and removed it, then peeled away the unwanted portions of the vinyl. To transfer the letters to the final surface, you can use signmakers' transfer tape, or multiple strips of masking tape.
