A 1929 Morris Light Van for your organ transport, anyone?
Hi folks, Looking for the ultimate transport for a period street or fair organ? It needs a lot of finishing, but please take a look at the 1929 Morris Light Van project I'm selling on eBay right now... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250248566055 - Sorry for the lack of recent postings from myself; things have been rather hectic this last couple of months, not helped by a bit of a distraction by this other interest of mine, vintage cars. Here's a video I made for YouTube showing the fun of driving my brother's 1930 Morris Cowley Sports... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujMw61tC6ak Note the music in the middle of the film is from my 1927 Weber pianola. Enjoy! :org: Nick

I love the 1920's music that goes along with these videos - it's one of my favorite kinds of music !! Where did you find the recordings for this ? Stephen

Nice one, Nick. The tune played throughout the video on the two formats is called 'painting the clouds with sunshine'. I think it's on the 'best of Billy Cotton & his danceband'. A company called 'Signature' make loads of compilations like this. You can buy them at garden centres & the like. They are only about £2.99 each. They are brilliant fun, I have loads of them! Rob.

Another great source is the soundtrack to the Dennis Potter drama series 'Pennies from Heaven'.

Glad you like the video Rob! The recording is actually Jack Hilton’s band playing “Painting the Clouds…”, a piece written in 1929, very fitting for the age of the vehicles I’m selling. The title is quite a fitting one too, as the week I was using my brother’s vintage car to make that driving video was a very cold and wet one, but each time I took the car out the sun came out too! Here’s another vintage Morris project I’m selling on eBay by the way, this one being a 1928 Cowley Coupe… http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250252038827

My 1929 Morris Light Van project has now been sold, though it doesn't look like it's going to be an organ lorry :( For those interested, I've been busy the last few months selling all my other vintage car projects to re-invest in a 1928 MG sports car - it's not just organs I like owning and working on! I hope to have the vehicle, a local car to me which was used up until 1935 after which it stood idle, properly back on the road in the next couple of weeks (in the middle of finishing details like wiring and sorting the dashboard out at the moment). Photo below: So sorry for the lack of iMOD postings from myself lately - the car, along with a recent new business venture, has been taking all my free time lately, but hopefully will be ready in time for the belated English Summer we're all still waiting for! Kindest regards, Nick
